Protect employees, equipment and materials with operator and train the trainer programs

The use of industrial trucks is essential to material handling and logistics in every industry, with more than 200,000 units sold annually in the United States.

The Industrial Truck Association (ITA) estimates that there are more than 4.5 million lift truck operators presently employed in the United States, working in more than 300 different industries. Forklifts are fundamental to warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities, but their unsafe use is the most cited hazard in warehousing operations by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Forklift overturns, often caused by careless driving or turning with an elevated load, are the leading cause of fatal forklift accidents, according to OSHA. The lack of operating experience and ineffective training create a higher-risk work environment, safety managers say, especially as companies turn to temporary staffing and third-party contractors to meet the demand for workers as the U.S. labor shortage continues.

Train with confidence

At Carolina Handling, we focus on building and maintaining customer confidence. From trusted equipment to expert fleet service to proven automation systems integration, Carolina Handling is truly a one-stop shop, and that includes training.

Our Operator and Train the Trainer programs are designed to protect your employees, equipment and materials and to create a warehouse environment that is safer, less costly and more efficient.

Taught by our team of in-house technical trainers, we use classroom instruction, hands-on training and demonstrations to make sure your operators have the skills needed to operate equipment safely and efficiently.

“Improving workplace safety always is the primary reason for comprehensive forklift operator training,” said Carolina Handling Regional Service Manager Joe Prince. “It also reduces product and equipment damage, and it extends the lifespan of equipment.”

Trained operators are more likely to use forklifts correctly, which means less wear and tear on equipment, Prince said. That leads to lower maintenance, repair and replacement costs.
